Hi, I’m Maria
Baby & Child Sleep ConsultantI support families in improving their child’s sleep through gentle, attachment-based and trauma-informed sleep guidance for babies and children from birth to 6 years old.
I’m here to listen to your story and guide you with a calm and supportive approach that respects both your child’s needs and your family’s rhythm.
Because this is exactly the kind of support I needed myself when I was in your place.
Today, I help families improve their children’s sleep through a holistic and personalized sleep approach.
My journey…
Like many parents, I once found myself facing the exhaustion and uncertainty that come with a child’s sleep challenges.
Nights can feel endless when a child wakes frequently, struggles to fall asleep, or needs your presence again and again in order to settle back to sleep.
That was the beginning of my own journey. I wanted to understand children’s sleep on a deeper level.
The more I learned, the more I realized that many of the common tips and advice about baby and child sleep overlook the real needs of both the child and the family.
This led me to a deeper path of study and professional training around child sleep, brain development, and attachment theory.
Today, through my work as a baby and child sleep consultant, I have the privilege of supporting parents who are going through exactly this phase, when nights have become difficult and the family needs guidance and reassurance.
What moves me the most is the moment when a parent begins to feel calm, and trusting in themselves again. And in that moment, I know they have found their confidence again.
My personal story...
I feel deeply grateful to be the mother of a wonderful and healthy child. But our story began very differently from what I had imagined.
From the very first days I held him in my arms, I found myself facing a series of challenges. I was a new mother, often alone with my baby for many hours during the day, living in a foreign country, while my baby struggled to sleep and cried a lot.
When I reached out to professionals for help, I was often told that I was being “too sensitive” or “overreacting”. And little by little, I began to feel more and more alone, exhausted, and confused.
But during that time, something inside me began to grow stronger: a deep need to understand what my child needed and to find answers to all the “whys”.
This need led me on a deep journey of learning and research about children’s sleep, gradually uncovering the hidden causes and factors that were affecting my child’s sleep. Little by little, I began to piece everything together and find answers.
Through this journey, I came to understand something that still fascinates me today: how deeply a child’s sleep is connected to their health, development, emotional security, and the relationship they build with their parents.
Many times I had heard people say, “I found my calling,” but until then I had never truly understood what that meant.
Now I do.
My calling is to support parents the way I once needed someone to support me.
My philosophy…
The way I approach children’s sleep is guided by a few simple but essential principles:
• Every child and every family is unique. There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to baby and child sleep.
• Sleep challenges are often a symptom rather than the root problem. Together, we explore the deeper causes behind your child’s sleep difficulties.
• A child’s independence develops gradually and begins with a strong sense of security and connection with their parent.
• I don’t believe in quick fixes or “magic solutions.” Meaningful and lasting improvements in child sleep happen through understanding, collaboration, and respect for each family’s needs.
My goal is not simply better sleep, but a calmer and more confident family.
My Training & Ongoing Professional Development
My work is rooted both in personal experience and in professional training in sleep science, child development, and family dynamics.
As part of my specialization in baby and child sleep, I completed my training at the International Parenting and Health Institute (IPHI) in the United States, a recognized educational institute known for its holistic and interdisciplinary approach to children’s sleep.
My studies included topics such as sleep science, neuroscience and neurophysiology of sleep, child development, perinatal psychology and trauma, as well as factors that influence sleep, including nutrition, breastfeeding, emotional wellbeing, the sleep environment, and the body’s response to stress.
This training allows me to approach a child’s sleep challenges within the broader context of the child’s health, development, and the dynamics of the family.
As part of my ongoing professional development, I have also completed certifications from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and other reputable institutions in areas related to family wellbeing and child development, including:
• Child psychology and psychological trauma
• Education during childhood and adolescence
• Couples and family counselling
• Family adaptability and resilience
I continue to expand my knowledge through ongoing education and professional training, ensuring that the families I support benefit from the latest insights in child development and sleep science.
